Exploring Events by Date
The core of Histories Today is the Today in History feature. Every day, the home page surfaces historical events, births, deaths, and notable holidays that happened on this exact date throughout history.
- Use the tab buttons (Events / Births / Deaths / Holidays) to filter by type.
- Click any event card to read the full description and historical context.
- Use the date picker or the calendar navigation to jump to any date of the year.
Searching for Events
To find a specific event, person, or topic:
- Click the Search icon in the navigation bar, or go to /search.
- Type a keyword (e.g. "moon landing", "Napoleon", "French Revolution").
- Use the filters on the left to narrow by event type, year range, or month.
- Click any result to open the full event detail page.
Exploring Timelines
Timelines group related events in chronological order, making it easy to follow the arc of history on a topic. For example: "The Space Race", "World War II", or "The Renaissance".
- Browse available timelines from the navigation menu.
- Each timeline shows events in order, with short descriptions.
- Click any event within a timeline for the full detail page.
