Author Submission Agreement

1. Originality & ownership

The Author warrants that the submitted article is their own original work, has not been previously published in any form (print or digital), and is not under consideration by any other publication at the time of submission.

The Author confirms that they hold all necessary rights to the content, including any images, quotes, or excerpts included in the submission.

2. Licence to publish

Upon acceptance, the Author grants Histories Today a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide licence to publish, display, promote, and archive the article on the Site and associated channels (including email newsletters and social media).

The Author retains full copyright. You may republish the article elsewhere after publication on Histories Today, provided you include a canonical reference back to the original URL on this Site.

3. Editorial rights

The editorial team reserves the right to:

• Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation without notice.
• Request revisions to improve clarity, accuracy, or compliance with our Editorial Guidelines.
• Add sub-headings, formatting, or a "Further Reading" section.
• Decline to publish without providing a detailed reason.

Substantive edits that change the meaning or argument of the article will be agreed with the Author before publication.

4. Accuracy & liability

The Author is solely responsible for the factual accuracy of the submitted content. Histories Today does not independently verify all claims and accepts no liability for inaccurate information published in good faith on the basis of an Author's submission.

The Author indemnifies Histories Today against any claims arising from inaccurate, defamatory, or infringing content within their submission.

5. Plagiarism

Submissions are checked for plagiarism using automated tools. Any article found to contain plagiarised, paraphrased-without-attribution, or AI-generated content presented as original will be rejected immediately. Repeat offenders may have their accounts suspended.

6. Guest post fee

If the submission is made as a guest post, a fee of $20 is payable after editorial approval. No payment is required if the article is rejected. The fee covers editorial review, formatting, SEO optimisation, and permanent hosting.

Registered members submitting standard articles are not subject to any fee.

7. Removal & takedown

Authors may request the removal of a published article by contacting us at our contact page. We will consider removal requests on a case-by-case basis. Note that content already indexed by search engines and archived by third parties cannot be retrieved by Histories Today.

8. Governing law

This agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
